Date and Venue

• The competition will be held on 24 April 2026.

• The venue will be announced by the CIU Faculty of Pharmacy.

 

Eligibility

• Faculty of Pharmacy students are eligible to participate.

• 3rd, 4th, and 5th year pharmacy students may participate in the competition.

 

Prescription Allocation

• Each competitor will be assigned one prescription by lot from a predefined prescription pool.

• All prescriptions are prepared in advance and include at least three medications.

• Each prescription contains a hidden patient-related issue, which is known only by the patient role (faculty member) and not visible to the jury or the competitor.

Preparation Phase

• After receiving the prescription, the competitor is given 1 minute of silent preparation time.

 

During this time

• ❌ No communication with anyone is allowed.

• ❌ No electronic devices, notes, or external resources may be used.

 

Patient Counseling Phase

• The maximum duration of the patient interview is 8 minutes.

• The competitor may communicate only with the patient.

• Communication with the jury, audience, or any other person is strictly prohibited during the interview.

 

Jury Interaction

• During the interview, the jury may introduce Jury Special Cards that alter patient behavior or increase communication pressure.

• The number of Jury Special Cards shown to competitors may vary.

• Jury Special Cards are used for educational and simulation purposes only and do not directly affect scoring.

 

Evaluation Criteria

• Competitors are evaluated independently by each jury member based on observable performance only.

• The jury does not have access to hidden patient information.

• Evaluation is based on the following categories:

  • Clinical Accuracy and Patient Safety

  • Therapeutic Communication Skills

  • Clinical Awareness and Problem Recognition

  • Structure and Time Management

  • Overall Professional Impression

 

Scoring System

• Each jury member completes a single-page evaluation form covering all competitors.

• Final scores are calculated based on the average of jury scores.

• The competitor with the highest total score is declared the winner.

 

Recording and Consent

• The competition will be video recorded for educational purposes.

• By participating, all competitors agree in advance to the recording and educational use of the footage.

 

Final Decision

• Jury decisions are final and non-appealable.

• Any situation not explicitly covered in these rules will be resolved by the Competition Committee.
